It's true.

Not even a two-letter word. He was just entering kindergarten, and
since his passion has always been skateboarding (since he was 3), he
spent the entire summer before school, learning new tricks at the skate
park and playing with his friends.

Going into his first day of school, he knew the letters of the alphabet
fairly well, and I had no reason to believe he would have any trouble
learning how to read.

I was about to throw my hands up but then one afternoon, almost by
accident, I found an old dusty notebook in the garage while I was
cleaning. It was a notebook back from my days in graduate school which
I was studying education, cognitive development and psychology.

When I opened the notebook, I started reading frantically and a light
bulb went off in my head. I was so excited that I ran back to the
kitchen and immediately began writing and putting together lessons that
would help Frankie learn better and more efficiently.
